Education Awards

Submissions are now being accepted for

2025 GAWP Education Awards

 

The purpose of these awards is to annually recognize superior public education programs. This year’s awards will focus on educational programming and includes an application with greater flexibility to highlight creativity, inventiveness, and new programs implemented by utilities during the reporting period. Awards will also be given for Excellence in Communications & Excellence in Community Engagement.

For the 2025 Education Awards, all submitters are asked to use the Public Education Awards Submission Form. Submissions for the 2025 Education Awards will count towards the Sustained Program of Excellence designation.

Please remember to completely fill out both the General tab and the tab labeled "small systems". As you are compiling your evidence of implementation just remember "More evidence is better than less".
 
Additional Awards:

Utilities may also submit for the following award recognitions. A Program of Excellence submission is NOT required to submit for consideration on the following:

Award for Excellence in Communications - Exceptional printed mass media piece that goes directly to customers (newsletters, bill inserts, brochures, and collateral materials such as fliers, door hangers, etc.) OR exceptional digital and social media used to communicate issues and events.

Award for Excellence in Community Engagement – A creative program which uses an edgy or nonconventional approach to public outreach.

Judging Criteria and Minimum Requirements:
 
• Applicants may refer to the Judge’s Scoring Sheets and Rubrics below to review criteria used for evaluating the submissions.

• A minimum score of 90% MUST be realized in order for a program to be recognized with an Education Award of Excellence based on the Judge’s Scoring Sheet.

Evaluation Period:

Programs are being evaluated for activities that occurred January 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024.

Supporting Material:

All supporting material must be included to determine eligibility for the award. Supporting material must be submitted either in PDF format or as a Microsoft OneNote notebook. Please refer to the How-To Guide for more information on organizing your materials. All supporting materials must be uploaded below.

 

Eligibility:
 
• All applicants must be GAWP Utility/Corporate members.
 
• The applicant must have completed at least one full year (12 months) of public education programming.
 
• All applicants must complete and upload (below) the Award Submission Form. Only submissions made online will be considered.

  

Submission Deadline: January 17, 2025
 
 
These awards will be presented during the upcoming 2025 GAWP Spring Conference in Columbus.
