WEF AWARDS

Members of GWEF may be recognized for the following Federation awards:
    
ARTHUR SIDNEY BEDELL AWARD:
  This award may be presented annually to a GWEF member to acknowledge extraordinary personal service to the Member Association.  Rules governing this award are given in the Secretary's Manual provided by the Federation.

WILLIAM D. HATFIELD AWARD
This award may be presented annually to a GWEF member for outstanding performance and professionalism in the operation of wastewater treatment plants.  Rules governing this award are given in the Secretary's Manual provided by the Federation.

LABORATORY ANALYST EXCELLENCE AWARD:
This award may be presented annually to a GWEF member for outstanding performance, professionalism, and contributions to the water quality analysis profession.

 
BURKE SAFETY AWARD:
This award may be presented annually to a publicly owned facility for its documented safety program and safety record.

WEF SERVICE AWARD
: This award for meritorious service to the Federation is presented only to outgoing Federation Delegates and is presented at the conclusion of the Delegate's term.

GWEF AWARDS

Members of GWEF may be recognized for the following GWEF awards:

CHARLES H. JONES SERVICE AWARD: This award may be presented annually to a member of GWEF for extraordinary service to the Federation through the Association.

Water Reclamation Facility of the Year Awards

GAWP presents an award annually to water reclamation facilities that perform exceptional efforts to properly manage, operate and maintain the facility. Nominations for each category of water reclamation facility are accepted during the last few months of each year.

Teams of Class 1-certified wastewater treatment operators visit each nominated plant to determine the category winner. Recognition of winners occurs during the annual GAWP Spring Conference. Get the recognition for your facility and personnel that is deserved!

Winners from the prior year are not eligible for the next year’s competition.

Collection System of the Year Awards

 

GAWP presents an award annually to wastewater collection system owners who perform exceptional efforts to properly manage, operate and maintain their collection systems. Nominations for each category of wastewater collection systems are accepted during the Summer months of each year. 

Teams of certified collection system operators visit each nominated organization to determine the category winner. Upon request, first time nominees can be provided with a coach for preparing for their interviews. If you would like to request a coach or have questions about your Collection System Audit, please contact Bryan Jones at bjones@maconwater.org.

Golden Manhole Society

Upon the recommendation of the Collections Committee, GWEF’s Executive Committee established the "Golden Manhole Society" in 2003 to promote pride and professionalism in wastewater collection system operations through GWEF and GAWP Selection for membership will be considered a high honor and will recognize individuals who have made a significant contribution to the art and science of Collection System operations through the operation, maintenance, design, construction, management, planning, education, training, or certification of collection systems, as well as, through service to GWEF and GAWP. Specific rules and criteria governing this society are given in the GWEF Operations Manual.
