A Section of GAWP
Thank you for your interest in the Georgia Water Environment Federation (a Section of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, a 501-C-3 not for profit organization). Included on this website, you will find information designed to enhance your professional career and to broaden your understanding of the wastewater field in Georgia.
We have endeavored to make this site a useful and dynamic source of up-to-date information.
GWEF provides education and training opportunities for people working primarily in the wastewater field, and we are continually expanding and enhancing our services to our membership, other elected officials, the media, and the public.
GWEF has been affiliated with GAWP for nearly all of its 75-year history. The two organizations were formed within four years of each other, and since their affiliation have worked together to make both associations stronger. In 1928, an organizational meeting of the Board of Control of the Federation of Sewage Works Associations (now the Water Environment Federation) was held. In 1936, The Georgia Water and Sewage Plant Operators’ Association (now GAWP) became an official Member Association of the Federation.
GWEF supports the wastewater professionals of Georgia through its extensive awards programs. Click here to view facility and individual awards that are currently open for nominations.
