Take Out the Trash with the Public Education Committee

Litter in our waterways is not just unsightly; it is a hazard to wildlife and can threaten the health of aquatic ecosystems. Do your part to protect our water resources by helping the GAWP Public Education Committee take the trash out of the Chattahoochee River!

All GAWP members are invited to join the PEC and the National Park Service for a river cleanup on Friday, May 30, 2014. We will meet at 9:30 am at Azalea Park in Roswell, a popular launching spot for flatwater canoeing. There are no rapids or shoals to contend with and only a slow river current, so this will be a great trip for novices.

Our group will paddle down one of the most scenic sections of the Chattahoochee, collecting trash as we go.
After floating for about an hour, we will paddle back to Azalea Park for a picnic lunch. The Park Service will provide canoes, paddles, life jackets and all the tools we will require for the cleanup. Just bring drinking water, a hat, sunscreen, and shoes that can get a little wet and muddy.

This is sure to be a popular trip and canoes are limited, so please don't wait to register!
